When did you realize you were a serious Disney parks fan?: I am not sure I ever really “realized” it. I just know that it is one of the few places in the world that truly makes me happy. The thought of going there or when I get to Main Street in Disney World and see the castle for the first time each trip it is like I am a little kid all over again. There is nothing like it for me.
First Disney World Trip / experience: first experience was when I was 6 months old and it was 1971 (yes, I am dating myself) the park had just opened (do not remember it, but I wish I could). I have since been there too many times to count. I travel there at least 6 – 7 times a year.
Favorite Character: This one is tough, my favorite character of all time is of course Mickey, but there is just something about Tink. She is fun and sassy. She is definitely my favorite.
Favorite Disney Movie: Lion King without a doubt.
Favorite Ride: Flight of Passage is beyond my favorite ride in Disney World.
Favorite Resort to stay at: first choice would be Polynesian and second choice would be Port Orleans French Quarter.
Favorite place to dine (table service): California Grill and favorite character meal is by far Topolino Terrace for breakfast. I also love Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar in Epcot in Italy (small plates).
Favorite quick service: I love the quick service meals in the countries in Epcot. In China the Lotus Blossom Cafe and in France Les Halles Boulangerie & Pâtisserie. Then the kiosk in France for a Grand Marnier Slush (yum).
Best Snack: Mickey’s Ice Cream Bar
Best free thing to do at Disney: Disney Springs – I love to walk around there and look at all the different shops (of course in the end it usually costs me money). I love getting an ice cream at Ghirardelli and sitting and listening to music playing. I also love Brunch at Wine Bar George. The Dole Whip Mimosa there is amazing.
Tip or advice to a Disney guest: I would say my best advice would be to plan ahead for your Disney vacation. If you have a game plan you can do Disney, enjoy it and see all of the things that are on your must do list. This also avoids meltdowns with small children if you have a plan of action going in.
Anything you MUST Do each time you go to WDW: First thing is see the Castle (love this). This always has to happen. I also always have to head to Epcot and walk the countries. Every single trip both must happen for it to be deemed successful.
Top five attractions at WDW: Flight of Passage, Slinky Dog, Rockin Roller Coaster, Soarin and Everest.
Your favorite special event at WDW: I love the after hours events in the parks. I also love the Epcot Festival of Arts and Flower and Garden Festival. (Okay I picked more than one, I cannot help it).
Do you collect anything Disney?: Yes I collect Christmas ornaments and some special pins. I may also collect unique wine glasses from different Disney properties.
First Disney World Trip / experience: 1986… I was 4 years old…the Magic Kingdom was 15 years old. It was magical! Even though the Haunted Mansion made me white as a ghost!
Favorite Character: The Big Cheese himself, of course! But I also have to make mention of Mr. Incredible!
Favorite Disney Movie: Meet The Robinsons
Favorite Ride: Expedition Everest – it is my happy place!
Favorite Resort to stay at: Wilderness Lodge – I love that you can hear the train whistle from the Magic Kingdom, but you’re a world away… just across Bay Lake, nestled in the pines.
Favorite place to dine (table service): I honestly do not have a ‘favorite’. With so many great places across the Walt Disney World Resort to dine… here are a few of my favorites, in no particular order: Whispering Canyon, Tusker House (Donald’s Safari Breakfast), Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue, Garden Grill, and 1900 Park Fare (Breakfast or Dinner).
Favorite quick service: Satu’li Canteen at Animal Kingdom, Sunshine Seasons at EPCOT, Cosmic Rays in the Magic Kingdom, and ABC Commissary at Hollywood Studios.
Best Snack: DOLE WHIP! No doubt about it! I prefer pineapple vanilla swirl, please!
Best free thing to do at Disney: A monorail ride to resort hop and take in the sights, especially around the holidays.
Tip or advice to a Disney guest: Wear comfortable shoes, pack blister prevention/repair resources (anti-friction products, moleskin, peppermint foot spray/rub), and be sure to take at least two pair of tennis shoes, AND a comfortable pair of walking sandals. Also, do not buy new tennis shoes a week before you go!
Anything you MUST Do each time you go to WDW: Take just a few minutes to enjoy being surrounded by the magic that is the Walt Disney World Resort. The best places to experience magic is walking down Main Street USA, on a Savanna Overlook at Animal Kingdom Lodge, or by the fire at Wilderness Lodge.
Top five attractions at WDW: Expedition Everest, Kilamanjaro Safari, Festival of the Lion King, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Your favorite special event at WDW: As far as ticketed events, it would have to be Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. As far as something that’s free that happens every day… The daily Flag Retreat at 5pm in Town Square at the Magic Kingdom. I have a very soft spot for the honor and respect that this event shows for our Nation’s flag. It is a great reminder that the freedoms we enjoy have come at a great sacrifice, and that isn’t to be taken lightly.
Do you collect anything Disney?: Pins, framed art, vintage Disney merchandise (take a look at a plush Mickey from the 1950’s, change is inevitable with Disney!) and books.
First Disney World Trip / experience: I was really really little.
Favorite Character: Not my thing.
Favorite Disney Movie: The Incredibles was pretty awesome
Favorite Ride: Haunted Mansion is a classic and I wish I could build one in my backyard
Favorite Resort to stay at: Beach Club and Animal Kingdom Lodge / Kadani Village, well and the Grand Floridian, come on anyplace at Disney World
Favorite place to dine (table service): Victoria and Albert’s was amazing and I do love a good steak at Yachtmen’s Steak House at the Yacht and Beach Club Resort
Favorite quick service:
Best Snack: Go to Germany at EPCOT and get me one of anything or everything then head to France and do the same.
Best free thing to do at Disney: Take it easy, sit in the lobby and have a drink or sit by the fireplace in the evening. Oh and Starbucks.
Tip or advice to a Disney guest: Listen to Mouse Chat of course.
Anything you MUST Do each time you go to WDW: Meet up with friends and enjoy it
Your favorite special event at WDW: Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!
Do you collect anything Disney? Not yet, I might go crazy if I start collecting Disney stuff. It seems to just appear in my house already.
