Okay, I am welcome to the mouse cap. I'm Lisa and joining me. I've got Debbie, Caitlin, Sharpie and Steve. The whole game. That's everybody. Hey Lisa. Hi friends. Hi pals. Alrighty, we are all together. This is very exciting. It is. Yes. And we're going to do what Steve has now coined as a Disney Cruise Line Hodge Podge show. That's right. Because we've been talking about 15 minutes already. Yeah, we've been talking about everything Disney Cruise Line. The good, the bad, the ugly, the future.
The odd, the… Yeah. Yes. Heroes versus Villains Marvel. So, are we going to have structure to this? How did we start our conversation 15 minutes ago? Alright, so here's what we're doing. Okay. So everybody knows we're going to talk about Disney Cruise Line because it's pretty amazing. They have some new ships coming out. So we're going to talk about that. We have a deal. There's a deal for Disney Cruise Line. It's like the best deal. We're going to like tease it a little here.
Yeah. But there's a deal. Like, there are not a lot of good Disney Cruise Line deals. But you know that things are changing when this deal came out. So, this is a Disney Cruise Line deal. That's pretty awesome that we're going to go over. And then we got two new ships. We've got new itineraries. We have the holidays. And Disney Cruise Line. We have insider tips. I don't know. I'm just going to make stuff up too. So, what was this throw that in there? So that's kind of the idea of the whole show.
You ready for this, Lisa? I am ready. We can do this. Oh my gosh. I know. The excitement is the… It's sharpies here, debbies here. Everybody's here. Thanks. Let's do it. All right. So, what do you want to discuss? I don't know. Well, so we start with the next new ship. Well, there's two of them. Yeah. There's… Yeah. Let's talk about… Okay. So, these ships are there now. Steve. I don't know. I original two. There was two. That's better than the smaller ones.
Yes. The Magic and Wonder. And then we added two more. The fantasy and the dream. Yeah. So, that's four. First and the fantasy. There you go. And then what was next? The… Oh, then we had the wish. Yes. Right? And then we had the treasure. Yep. So, that's five, six. What's coming up in a couple of months? I don't know. This one that I'm not excited about at all. But everyone else is excited. Because we determined that I hate heroes. But they have the villains too.
Yeah. It's like equal… Maybe I'll just… Maybe I'll just stay on that half of the ship. Yeah. The villain side or in the bottom. The villains are probably in the bottom lower deck. Yeah. So maybe I'll get a room on the lower deck. So, I just won't come up to the higher deck. Okay. And then I'll… Well, that would be the destiny. And that's the next one coming out. So, what number is that? So, I forgot. Now, what number was that though? And the destiny is coming out in November of 25.
That's number seven. Seven. Oh, then there's this ship. The Disney adventure. Yeah. So, they bought… So, it was a ship that like a Japanese or Chinese company was making. And they got like 80 or 90% done. And then it went out. It went bankrupt. This was during COVID. So, Disney picked it up for like pennies on the dollar. And it's huge. You think Disney ships are huge. This thing is massive. But then they kind of… And it was like almost done. So, they just had to add the theming and touches to it really.
And kind of… Well, they did some pretty major restructuring. Okay. From a brand perspective. Yeah. But what guess to expect from a Disney ship? With… Yeah. So, there's not… Hopefully not teeny tiny rooms. I don't know. It depends on how it's set up. So, that thing comes out. When does that come out? The adventure. The end of this year. 2025. Yeah. December 15th, 2025. Oh, wow. It's going to be here before you know it. Yeah. It's already been floated out.
So, I mean, it's… Nice. It's no longer in… In dock. So, hopefully there's some rumors that it's going to be over in California. And we're hoping to see it. I don't know if I'm hoping to see it. I'm hoping to see it. Are you going to be over there? I am. Oh, well, there you go. Yeah. So, maybe you'll see it. I have a conference in Anaheim in November. November. Uh-huh. And we'll see. You know I'll be like, oh my gosh. So, just for reference, the tonnage.
Oh, wow. The destiny is 144,000. Gross tons. All right. 144,000. When you compare that to the adventure, the adventure is weighing in at 208,000 gross tons. Wow. So, it has a length of 1,122 feet and one inch. So, it still won't be the world's biggest because we're going to be the world's biggest. So, we're going to be going to be going to be going to the world's biggest. So, we're going to be going to be going to the world's biggest. So, it still won't be the world's biggest because star of the
season royal is 248,000 gross tonnage, but it's still pretty big. Oh, that's pretty big though. So, it's big for a Disney show. This ship was supposed to be the largest ship in the world. When it launched, when it was when it was to be the global dream. But I mean, that's been. Yes, when it was. I think it started construction back in 2018. So, you look at all the ships that have launched since then. Yeah. Yeah. This is definitely going to be among the largest, but it's definitely the largest in
Disney's fleet. Yeah. Yeah, they were putting it, they had to take out the eight track players when they were building it, but they've updated it. Disney is updated it. Yeah. We have laser discs. All those are different removed. So, Oh, there you go. Oh, there you go. Little red. Like I don't allow. I feel like that's a version voyage is thing on there. They should like ship number five or they just came out with their fourth one. So, ship number five or version could be like super retro.
That would be that would have. That would be perfect for them. People who'd like to see that. Yeah. One of them. So, what's your favorite of all of the ships so far or Sharpie? So, the, I mean, honestly, I haven't sailed with with Disney since COVID. Yeah. It's been a long time. I mean, I've sailed with Royal twice since COVID. But yeah, I haven't sailed with Disney. It's just been like because of the kids school schedules, it's just really hard to get a cruise on the books.
Yeah. It's just, it's yeah. I'm itching to go to the southern Caribbean though. So, there you go. That would be nice. Caitlin, what's your favorite ship? Oh, that's so hard. I mean, I only have one child, but I feel like that's be like if someone asked you what your favorite child was. What's your favorite child? So, great. In different ways. But I would say at the moment, I lean towards the wish. Yeah. I feel like it's very beautiful. Yeah. And the rooms are so nice.
I really enjoy the dining options. I'm, I'm itching to do the treasure. So, yeah, that you'll really want to do the treasure. And, yeah, kind of like Steve. I mean, I would love to do any Disney cruise. And I would totally love to do the destiny. But I'm itching more towards doing the treasure over the destiny at this point. I love the overall design of the treasure. The more powerful she is. It's a much, much darker, like more mysterious kind of.
Yes. I love that whole vibe that it has. Debbie, what's yours? Well, my 16 year old would say the wish because she loves the hero zone. She'll make little friends. Oh, yeah. She goes down there. She never comes back up. I only know if she's alive because she'll change her clothes and leave her clothing on the floor. I don't ever really see her because she just makes friends in the hero zone. For me. I think I'd be the dream. I really like the layout of the dream.
I think having all of the adult entertainment in one area as opposed to the wish. And the treasure works more spread out. Yeah. And having a larger adult only pool is nice. So I think I'm going to have to stick with the dream. That was the first one I ever sailed. So maybe it's got just a special place in my heart for that reason. But I think I've been on almost all of them except the treasure. And that's probably my favorite. Lisa. Do I have to pick just one?
Yeah. Okay. Oh. If it's one, it's going to be the fantasy. What? Interesting. A close second is going to be the new treasure. Yeah. I really enjoy that. Yeah. But you forced me into a corner. And I mentioned them both anyway. The treasure is amazing. Treasure is amazing. I like it. I do want to get on one of the older ships though. Because I don't remember them. Oh, they're fun. Well, they like Debbie said they have the adult section. Well, at least on the first two, they have the, you know,
they had that little pleasure island kind of area. And the front where it's all the clubs are in one area and all that, which is kind of fun. Well. Yeah. No, they just and they've redone a lot of little things on there. They're just, I don't know. I didn't feel like I ran out of things to do. I wasn't crowded. Anyway. Well, and that's a pretty big deal actually when you're talking about the magic and the wonder. Oh, yeah. Because they are so much smaller.
It's easier to get excursions booked. It's easier to get things on the ship book. And when you when you're on cast away, you don't feel like like when you have two big ships, a cast away. Good luck getting around that island and finding a chair. So it is going to nice on the smaller ships. The one and the only time I ever splurged for concierge from my family. Yeah. We were on. I think it was the wonder. And I was so impressed because it's a smaller ship.
They really got to know you. After our second visit in the concierge lounge, like they knew my name as soon as I walked up. And there's no reason to remember me over anybody else. But they had your names. They knew what cabin number you were in. They knew your kids names. They would tell you if your kids had come and gone from the lounge. And I was really impressed with the service level on the smaller ships. That's good. Yeah. And I was like, Steve was saying how, you know, it's so small.
We did the magic last year. And when I stepped on board, I was like, oh boy, this is small. Like I was kind of regretting doing it. Was that your first time on the magic? Also, you had been on the bigger ones first. Oh yeah. Oh wow. It's interesting. Okay. I'd only ever done the big one. Oh wow. Okay. Yeah. It's a shock. Oh no. I think we made a mistake. Like this is way too small. And then by the end of the trip, we were like, this was awesome. Like it was very intimate.
Like Debbie said, you know, the cast members or this in the staff really get to know you and your family that way. And it just felt like very homey because everything was so small and intimate. And not as many people. It just, I don't know. The whole vibe was different. And we, by the end of it, we enjoyed it way more than we thought we would. Yeah. I like, I like them all. And the small ones are fun. But the treasure. Like you know, I hate to talk about anything negative, but like the wish.
Yeah. That lobby you walk in and your jaw will hit the floor. It's always beautiful lobby. I mean, it's gorgeous. And the dinner show, the frozen show was amazing, but you were, I was elbow to elbow with people either side of me. The tables are packed in. Yeah. Yeah. It's so tight. But when you're on the older ships, you may give up the dinner shows. You're still going to have a great dinner. But you have more space. Like I was really good. Yeah. But they do have the, the snuggly duckling on.
Oh, it's on the, it's on the magic. Yeah. The wonder. Is it on the wonder? Yeah. Oh, I did. And then that was a nice change from the old parakeet. Yeah. Was I on the wonder? I guess I was. on the magic. Oh, yeah. It might be on the magic. Yeah. I think it's on the magic because I did it for lunch or something. It was cute. It's super cute. It's very well themed. I don't know. Yeah. It's a smaller space that used to be 800 different things that never kind of worked.
Yeah. Yeah. And if that is basically a little dinner show, they perform. Yeah. They have a dinner show. They go for lunch. The characters that come around and they carry the lay in turns. It is. And you know, entertainment while you eat. Yeah. It was. Yeah. That's very cute. And then they have this. Where does it the scat cat lounge or something? From whatever the movie is that I can never remember the name of. That movie where the guy. The guy dies.
I'm blinking on it. Oh, that's soul. Soul. Soul. There you go. That's a good one. That's a good movie. Yeah. That was a good. I got to watch it again. I want to watch that. But on our list. Like, you know, the destiny and the treasure. They have that amazing haunted mansion lounge. Oh, my gosh. The Star Wars lounge, which is fantastic. That's where you'll find me if I'm ever on the wish. But that haunted mansion lounge. Woo, that looks amazing. Wait.
Did you just say it's also on the destiny? Yeah. Oh, I might go now. I might come up from the bottom level. Yeah. And the haunted mansion. There's a whole different reason to book right now. Oh, yeah. Look at Sharpie Sharpie. Sharpie's going to kick. So, yeah. You are traveling with more than two people. Yeah. They're a fantastic deal on Disney Cruise Line right now. And it's been a long time since Disney did this promotion. Yep. I can honestly. I think it was probably.
I want to say maybe 2011. The last time they did this. Where you say, you know, the first thing that you're going to do. Where you save up to 50% off your additional guests. Beyond green four, not. Yeah. Third and fourth guest. That's amazing. Oh, good. Yeah. Third and fourth guest. That's amazing. Oh, good. Yeah. So, like, the wonder or the first sailing with this discount is October 3rd. So we're looking right around the corner. And then dream is November 8 for the first sailing.
And then magic fantasy and wish start in mid December. And then some of them go all the way through March. Like the dream. This discount ends on the March 30 sailing. So there's a lot of dates on a lot of ships. Not the treasure. Not the destiny. But a lot of the other ships. Five of them have this great discount. And then there's also even if you are just a party of two. There's also 30% off select sailing's valid right now as well. Mostly on the way.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Mostly mostly. Mostly. Mostly. But there's also some seven nights out of San Juan and Galveston as well, though. So. So your wish does your shorter cruises right out of Port Canaveral. Like what the three to four night, which is nice because that's a nice ship first shorter cruises. You get the whole new layout, the whole new design. One of their newer ships. The nice thing to about this discount is. You can apply it to existing bookings.
So I we had several. Clients already booked. And it saved. It's a dollars. It saved one of our clients. $800 over $800 on their sailing. And it's also very rare for them to offer promotions on existing bookings. Yes. Yep. Yeah. Usually only. And so I have a lot of confidence and military can add discounts after they book. So it is nice that this is an opportunity to save money. You know, you thought you were going to spend a certain amount and guess what?
Now you can spend a little less. Yeah. I mean, that's always the best email to send out. Like, hey, guess what? Your cruise is $800 less. Like nothing. You can use that money on excursion. Yeah. You can spot. Use that money on whatever you want. Yes. Trinks. Yeah. And then also coming up pretty soon, we'll have some themed cruises. We've got the Halloween on the high seas. We've got the holidays. Pixar day at sea. Marvel day at sea. So we've got some really cool opportunities to, you know, shake it up a little bit.
And if you haven't done Halloween on the high seas, it's a lot of fun. You literally get to go cute. Yeah. You can trick a tree, dress it up. It's so fun. Yeah. Well, I think all of the events are fun. The themed ones. Because they dedicate like on Marvel day. Everything about the ship that day is all about Marvel. And yes, it is a single day, but you don't eat more than that. But the tree. Sharpie would say it's marvelous. Oh, that's what it's going to say.
I was like, Sharpie would say it was marvelous. Look at that. We're thinking the same thing. Eury. Wow. I'm sorry, Lisa. Oh, my gosh. It's been a while since we've had the Sharpie. Sharpie puns. Yes. So I guess we're over the few. It's very marvelous. Oh, that was good. See. I've been torturing all of our bandboards. I'm just, that's good. He probably said lately. They probably said no, Sharpie. There's no meeting tonight. You don't need to. Yeah.
Oh, my God. Stay away. Stay home. Stay home. So one of our biggest fundraisers every year is our, if we call it our band spectacular. It's exhibition performance from like all of our local high school bands. So I always joke that we have spectacular meetings, but. Mm. You know, that's right. Well, we've kind of driven into the ground and beaten that the dead horse of epic. Epic universe. Yeah. Everything there is epic. It was so epic. Yeah. It's an easy name.
Yeah. So who's just for now? The backwards. Have you guys been on one of the cruises where it's either Christmas or Halloween or a. Day of season. Oh, and the same cruise. No. Oh, what? Oh, did it switch over. We did a, we did a, we did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a,
We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, We did a, I think that was the wish if I remember correctly. Really? Impressive. That's cool. All right. So it filled out a New York. No, no, no, sorry. That was the wonder. No, no, no, no, sorry. It was the magic. There's too many of them now. It was the magic. Okay, so I would love to just put this out there.
You can pick any ship you want. But if you know you're going on a Disney cruise, what is the thing you most look forward to? Doing, eating, experiencing. What's your favorite? You're like, oh, I get to do, or I get to what? Finish that sentence. So for me, the biggest difference between Disney Cruise Line and other cruise lines is Disney does not crazy overpack their schedule where everything overlaps. You don't have to choose. Really good job of timing out everything.
So like say, for instance, if you wanted to catch the early show, you on on Royal Caribbean, you would end up being late for dinner. Or if you did the early dinner, you would end up almost being late for the show. So like Disney times those really well to allow you to do both dinner and your show. Yeah, 100%. Yeah, they do a very good job of like the newer ships and some of these other ships. It's all about getting the app and signing up for things in the app
and getting reservations. And you don't have a reservation where like Sharpie's saying with Disney, you do the dining and then the show is right after the dining or right before the dining, depending on which one you have. And there's plenty of time and there's plenty of seats and there's no reservations. And the other thing too is like Disney's drinks are not only well made, but they're also reasonably priced. Like where on Royal Caribbean, if you don't do the drink package,
which is expensive, like really expensive, like you're paying 18 to $20 for a drink most times. And it's like, that's a lot. And even if you're gonna have one drink a day, you're still not breaking even on a drink package, but you're still spending, yeah. So spending a ton of money on a seven-night cruise. I feel like Disney's drink packages is more, not even a drink package, or drink prices, but then like also like the drink specials that they offer.
So Debbie, what's your things? That is really hard to pick.
I think I just like the randomness of Disney Cruise Line. You'll just be walking to go to the theater or something. And all of a sudden there's Peter Pan running around. Or many mouses in the lobby greeting people. It reminds me of how going to the parks used to be where he didn't have to schedule everything. You weren't running from one place for another. You just have an experience that was unexpected. And I love that on the Disney cruise ships.
The characters just kind of pop up everywhere. And it's just so relaxing. And I think castaways amazing. I think they did such a great job putting an experience and storytelling together on this beautiful island. I love the snorkel there and see the sunken treasure. Look out is also lovely except for that long walk from the ship. But I think that's probably my favorite thing. Oh, you went to the Newport. And the long walk. It is a long walk. It's crazy.
Anyway, oh my gosh. Okay, those are all good. Caitlin, Caitlin. Hey, Landon. Well, I guess I mean, this might say going to a whole other topic, but I love the ships. Obviously, there's so much to do on the ships, but I also love the islands. Mm hmm. So I mean, it depends on what itinerary are on. Like obviously you're not gonna visit the private islands if you're sailing to Alaska. But Disney has, you know, castaway key, their private island and then look out key at light house point.
Their island destination.
And they're just amazing. Amazing. So I just love those so much. Like the day at the islands for me is I look forward to that so much on the Caribbean ceilings. Yeah. So the other thing for me, which has to do with the drink package and it also has to do with the islands. And it has to do with the whole vibe thing that everyone was talking about. Like when I get on some of the other ships, it's like a time share pitch. Like I got on one and like I was just trying to get on
the elevator. And I couldn't get these people to stop trying to sell me the drink package or the dining package. I think they even got in the elevator with me. It's like, it was like just over the top, like high pressure of like, so with Disney, that's just absurdity. I know the Disney, there's none of that. And when you go to the island, like Caitlin's talking about, you can do whatever you want. It's you can eat whatever you want. You can go to wherever you want.
You can go down the slide. It's not been upcharged and upcharged. Which, you know, has its place, right? So if you want to go to a Miami Beach party on an island, then there's cruise lines that do that. There's cruise lines that will do that for free. And there's cruise lines that will upcharge you. So they're all different. And maybe Disney gets more money upfront and it's included in the price. But there's no, like you just go to the island and you do whatever you want to do.
There's no special areas that you have to pay to get into or special water parks or whatever. So I like that whole thing where it's not making reservations and the other ships do a good job. And I enjoy them. It's just, they're different. So Lisa. And it really is like a different operating model. Yeah. Because where a lot of the crew, like the San for instance, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, like they're all selling you at a relatively lower price point
than what Disney is. So a lot of times when clients look at the price of a Disney cruise, they're like just comparing, oh, cruise A to cruise B. When in fact, cruise A with Disney, your shows are exponentially better. And I cannot like emphasize how much better your shows are on Disney cruise line than the 13th edition of like the rock tribute opera that Royal is presenting with really talented cast, but the show itself as written is absolutely dreadful.
Literally get up, walk out a little over halfway through. Well, there's a lot of those shows there. They're entertaining, but they're not great. Yeah, there's a lot of the reason. Disney top quality Broadway productions. Like so when you look at comparing A to B, yes, your price is higher with Disney, but you also have so much more included. Like you're not going to be sold or they're not going to try to sell you a soda package because your soda is included,
not only in the main dining room, but also anytime, they're night on the deck. So anytime or at the bars, it's yeah. Yeah, and there's only like a set of specialty dining restaurants that aren't required on Disney where I feel like on some other really special. Yeah. So I feel like on other cruise lines, it's like, well, how good is the food going to be if I don't get specialty dining? Is it going to be? And sometimes it's okay. And sometimes it's like, oh, I really should get
especially dining. Right. So it depends. I don't know. I mean, there are like, so every said, it's all price point and it's all whatever. Some of them lower you in with the lower price point. And then you you get nickel and dived. You end up paying so much more. And if you had just paid one price upfront and called it a yeah, because we get over. And we did. Yeah, because really what are your only extras on DCL? If you want to go to the spa, you want to go to the adult only
dining, Bingo, because I guess it's their version of gambling. And then that one that I've never understood, if you guys can explain it to me, that'd be great. Why? Everything is included. Oh, I was hanging for popcorn at the field. I have understood that. And it's such a cheap thing. Yeah, I know. I don't understand that. I think that kind of the convenience of having it right there. And like, if you get one of the waiters, if you're in the theater,
it's it's kind of like a poshy. I don't know why that is. Yeah, it is interesting that you pay for the popcorn. I feel like if it was free, everybody would have it. There'd be too many for it. And the whole theater would be covered in popcorn. Yeah. And everywhere. Maybe that's why. Well, give you, I mean, you know, that got the ice cream, the self-serve ice cream up on the pool deck. That's free. So why it's certainly that costs more than the popcorn.
Give me the popcorn for free. I've decided it's because if you're going to buy the popcorn, you're also going to buy the $30 souvenir bucket. The popcorn comes in and that's what they're really selling. True. Well, little do they know, I bring my Walt Disney World popcorn bucket. Yeah, times too. Lisa has. And I get them filled and I share with my friends. Lisa has the same popcorn bucket from probably the first Disney cruise ever. And she brings them in her luggage.
You don't seem to complain. I don't because she gets, because is it free or do we get a, or is it like a dollar? Oh, see, there it might be like a dollar. So there's a high, but it's so cool. And if you want to be cheap like us, and we're going to be cheap, sometimes, get the popcorn bucket and then take it with you. I also get the, the cards for the, what is it? The coffee shop. Yeah. Because it's like holding like five punches and you get a free.
It's his challenge every time. It's espresso or something. You get it like a free drink. And when the, and the drink prices like Sharpie saying, it's only like $4 or $5 for a cappuccino. It's like less than going to a Starbucks at home. It is reasonable. Like it's that. And it's, it's the same price or less than a drink at home. And I get my little coupon, little punch card. And so I just make sure I bring them. Yeah. So there you go. Yeah. They think he's not going to fill it.
He shows them. I always fill my card. And then I have, and then I started a second one. Yeah. You've got a couple of cards. I got a couple of cards somewhere that I got to go on again. Yeah. Remember when we cruise to the Mexican Riviera, you were, we're punching that card out. I'm always at the coffee place. Yeah. Sharpie and I in the Mexican Riviera. Always. There was such a good trip. I do that again, Sharpie. We rode that bus on. We rode, we rode like a bus for a nickel.
It was, it was quite literally the craziest thing ever. I feel like a lady on there holding a chicken.
And there's a blind lady singing into a micro. There was a blind lady said that there was a girl with her who had an amplifier in the backpack. It was so good. And then like they passed the hat. And you know, we all gave him a few pesos. It was great. Like it was, and the thing was a manual bus. So he was like grinding. Every time he tried to shift it, it would, it was the best experience ever. Then on a standard transmissions, like it was just like a school bus type bus.
Oh, yeah. Since I'm going to say probably second grade. Yeah. Yeah. There was no safety on that bus at all. It was like metal or. You know, that was a great cruise. Oh, so very. And I would love to go back to cobblows. Yeah, we went to a lot of places. We never, we never went to. We went to something. What was wrong with an app? Port of the art. Yeah. Malta. No one knows what's known. Not multiple. We were supposed to go to Moscow. Mazelan. Did we go to Mazelan or did it get canceled?
No, we ended up not, we ended up just doing another day at sea because or no, did or I thought we went to Mazelan. No, we didn't because it was like there at that time, there was a state department travel. Yeah. Because our head didn't like gang violence. Yeah. I remember. I thought we went before the gang violence. And I got my tiles there. But I don't remember. We went to so many places. Anyway, see fun, Disney Cruise Line memories. All right. So I'm going to jump in.
Has anyone ever been to on a on the last skin Disney cruise? Hold on before we go there. I didn't talk about my favorite. What's your favorite thing? Oh, Lisa. We saw we saw. That's OK. Go home. So of course I'm aligned with Sharpie. My first thought is corny, not popcorny. So that was not my first thought. But it was trivia and the games and the entertainment that they have. But that's not a reason to go on a cruise. I think. But it is.
It's that's what you love. That's a reason to go on a cruise. OK. It's my overall feeling. It's it's a happy place for me. It's kind of like walking through the magic kingdom, but not writing anything. It's knowing that I'm there. Yeah. So that's part of it. And then what Sharpie was saying about the shows, the entertainment top notch. It'd be top notch, amazing heart. Yeah. Rinching or every show in all every show is a good show. And there's no music through the centuries show.
It's all they're all good. You know, themed Disney Lion King. And can I just say my happy place in the universe is the back deck. Having breakfast outside the buffet. Oh, yeah. Fully aft watching the sea churn.
That's just my happy place. I think Sharpie needs a tissue. I mean, even even even he's a cruise. He needs to be. I mean, a cruise. I get a cruise. I know. And here I am shopping cruises while we check. Oh, that's right. See now you got a book. Well, even the little sound that plays before they do an announcement on the speaker, like makes you happy, right? I mean, or the horn of the ship. Horn. I mean, it's there's little things that they do that aren't these massive things
that just make you feel good. And that's the general vibe. Yeah. And that and when we went on one, when we did the treasure, and I think we did something right before it or right after it, you could see like the extra details. Like in the lobby or things. But it's just put together nicer. The finishes are nicer. The attention to detail, the theming, the spontaneity, like they're like Debbie was saying of characters and things that just happened. Oh, anyways, so kind of feels like when you go to summer camp.
And you know, you show up there and you're excited for your week ahead. Are you? Yeah, and then, you know, as it goes, you get to know like your cruise director and you start seeing like families at different places or even the families that are sitting near you in the dining rooms and you start to make friends and your friends, your kids start making friends. And then by the end of the cruise, it's like leaving summer camp and you're saying goodbye
to your servers and your friends and this place that you like called home for the last week. It's like that feeling. Your summer camp was, the experience was much better than my kid childhood summer. I could have waited out. I hate it so. Sharp summer. Sharpie love summer camp. Oh, yeah. I hate it. I couldn't. I was like, oh, that got to do the swim test. Am I going to pass the swim test? I got to get in this. Oh, Princess. I was, yes. I was a frequent flyer.
I could be eaten by mosquitoes. I would cry when I left summer. Oh, my God. I would cry to get just to have to go to summer camp. I never got to go to summer camp. It was horrible. For me, that was a get to go. We're going to have to book Lisa on an adult summer camp. That's what we're going to have to do. You don't know how much I would love that. Aren't you ready and bodied? Oh, I have that. We're spec. Sharpie, tell me there is such a thing. There are definitely adult summer camps.
Well, wait. Grown up summer camps or adult summer camps? For grownups. Yeah. They're not explicit. Okay. You have to provide that. I don't know where to adult these days. I'm going to have to check out the grownup. I'm working. Yeah. Yes. It's awful. Trampolines and you're going to come back with like a broken arm. Last. You're going to have a broken arm. I do tend to act. Yeah. Yeah. Not my age. 100%. You're going to come back with something broken.
It's happened before. Yeah. Not even at summer camp. Yes. I understand the whole idea of like how you make friends. Like like when like when your kids go on a Disney cruise, you know, the last night there with their friends all night. And because they they meet these kids and they have such a great time. And then they're what they are always chatting with those kids on all these apps and whatever forever. So yeah, there is that, you know, a seven day cruise.
There's a lot of bonds, especially the kids. Yeah. And even with the cast members too. Yeah. The cast members are great. The servers and the bonds. It's it's real. Yeah. Yeah. So we got to Alaska. Oh, yes. Alaska. So you were asking if I guess I would get into Alaska. Alaska and cruise with Disney. And that's a couple clients do them. And absolutely love them. Right. So. We've had coins do them as well, but I have never personally done it. I mean, that's a hilly on my list.
But it's I mean, I live in Florida. So it's so easy to just drive to one of the ports here and do the Caribbean. Yeah. But you last in is definitely on my bucket list. I don't really like cold. So it's not on my list. It is actually. Going July. A favorable feedback I get from clients. I mean, they rave about it. I ran into someone at the grocery store. I probably sent on it is Nealaska sailing 10 years ago. And she was still just fan-girling over the whole experience.
It was the best vacation she'd ever have. She's something she never watched. She'd see it was such a memorable thing. So I would like to go, but I don't like to be cold. Well, we went. It's not cold. It's not. Alaska and cruises are absolutely magical. Yeah. There is just so much that you. Alaska. If you love the outdoors and are like a true nature lover, you love animals. Like you really enjoy like the majesty of creation. Like Alaska is a must do.
And the reason I say that is because it is unlike any other cruise that you're going to do. Because you have so much opportunity to see the different and varied landscapes. The Alaska has to offer. It's incredible. Yeah. Now, Sherby, I know that you've done Alaskan with. Royal. Did you go in the summer? Were you super cold? We went at the end of June, beginning of July. And I weigh over packed for cold, better clothing. So. What I would hide anyone, anyone planning.
I would pack a thin underlayer. A normal like outer layer like jeans or khakis or whatever. And then a jack. And then a jack. That has like a polar fleece or something like that. And then take a wind layer. Most times I needed the wind layer, not the warmth layer. So it wasn't the, it wasn't really even that it was that windy. It was just that you have a lot of temperature fluctuations. From like, you know, the wind layer. And then it was like, you know, the wind layer.
And then it was like, you know, the wind layer. And then it was like, you know, the wind layer. and you have a lot of temperature fluctuations. From like afternoon to evening. Because remember, it doesn't get dark. So like, you, it does get a little windy on the water late in the evening, most times. But you also need that wind layer for the waterproof element. Because oftentimes, especially in the morning, when you're like pulling into port, it's going to,
it's not going to be raining, but there's going to be a very heavy fog that gets, that can get you wet pretty quickly. So keeping that outer layer that's waterproof keeps you dry. It keeps you warm, but allows you to dress up or down. And I wouldn't take anything thick. I wouldn't take sweaters. I wouldn't take like a heavy winter jacket. I wouldn't take a parka. You're not going to need it. Dress for layers. Yeah. We did the same timeframe, I think.
And it was warm. I mean, and like you're saying, it's definitely layers in the, because you're going all day. So you're just kind of putting things in. You're just putting things on or taking things off. Now, were you on Disney? Steve? We did. Royal Caribbean. The thing I liked about the ship is it was a ship that was built to kind of go into like colder areas. Right. So the pool was in, there was an indoor pool, right? So which Disney ships don't have or there was an indoor solarium
in the front of the ship. And there was indoor covered hot tubs and such. Yeah. Yeah. I think maybe there were some pools. Yeah. The pool, there was a, you know, it had a retractable roof. So it was closed for that. And then there's a big solarium thing at the front with seating and stuff. So it's, and it's all inside. So you can see these big windows. So there was, and there was some outdoor space, but it's kind of more enclosed. So if it is chilly or if you're going early in the morning,
it's one of the glaciers or something. And you want to be out there on deck. Like we did Norway on Disney Cruise Line. That was incredible. And it, and we went through the few ords at like, I don't know, four or five a.m. So you're out on the deck. And the moon lights there, but they get their like giving you hot chocolate and they're giving you blankets wrap up in. But the ship isn't, and it was amazing. But that ship isn't really built to be like,
this is what we're doing with it. We're going to constantly go to cold. Where some other ships are kind of structured a little better. I think to do that. But yeah, last go was, last was amazing. I felt like I think Norway, Norway better. That's a little harder to get to Norway than it was to get to the last. It's a little more expensive. It's a little, it's a little, a little bit more expensive. Yeah. So, but yeah, Alaska is great. And you got to plan them up at least a year in advance.
It's super popular if you're in the US. Super easy to get to. I'm easy to do. And it's totally different because like Caitlin saying, if you're on the coast where we are like, it's easy to get to the Caribbean. But then you do it so much. It's kind of the same. You kind of get the same. It's amazing. But when you do it a lot over and over again, it kind of feels the same. So it's nice to do something totally different. And Alaska definitely is. It's different.
It's, it's interesting. Just being on a cruise with, without a swimsuit. I mean, you could do the swimsuit. Yeah, it's not the snorkeling and beach. And it's like, oh, there's an eagle just laying around. Just, it's just, yeah. Yeah, it's just like you just look out. It's not like you have to go looking for them. Then just there. Yeah. We saw sea otters off the bow. Yep. And I, There's, I am going to point out if you can spend a little extra time.
I've said this before. Mm hmm. Getting to the interior of Alaska, adding on that cruise tour portion. It is so worth it. I don't believe Disney has a cruise tour, but we can find a third party company that does the land portion only. You're flying just as far to get to Alaska in some cases as you are to get to Europe. And, you know, how many of us would fly out to Europe for seven days and be like, okay, we're done. And then fly back. Yeah. You know, adding the interior of Alaska is amazing.
Yeah, add three, five, seven days. And it will, you add seven days. You're going to double your cost. But you're going to see it. You're just touching Alaska if you do a cruise. You need to, in my opinion, get in there. You got to see it. S E A it. So the people didn't realize that we were, oh, look at that. Leesa ends it with a pun. Wow. Wow. Really good one too. Way to go. Oh my gosh. All right. Have we discussed everything we need to about? You can tell we love Disney Cruise Line.
We really do. And it's… We're all on board. There you go. That's the one. That's the one. Yep. That is much. Yes. I think it's fantastic. So now we're going to wave goodbye. Yes. Hi. Wrap up. You're a lighter. Oh boy. Oh boy. This is your up. I'm so sorry. You're very hurt. Um, so yes. I think we've covered it all. I would like to thank Pixy Vacations for sponsoring the podcast. Frequently Asked Questions
Is Disney Cruise Line worth the extra money?
For Disney fans and families with kids, yes. Disney Cruise Line costs more than Royal Caribbean or Carnival per person, but the value is in rotational dining (3 themed dining rooms with the same servers), the best kids clubs in the industry, top-tier entertainment, immersive theming, and the private island experiences at Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay. Non-Disney fans might get more for their money elsewhere.
Which Disney cruise ship is best?
The newest ships — Disney Wish (2022), Disney Treasure (2024) and Disney Destiny (2025) — are the most modern with the latest cabins, restaurants and entertainment. The classic ships (Magic, Wonder, Dream, Fantasy) still have loyal fans and often sail more variety of itineraries. For a first Disney cruise, most families love the Wish, Treasure or Destiny.
What is rotational dining on Disney Cruise Line?
Rotational dining means you and your serving team rotate through 3 different themed dining rooms across your cruise. The same servers follow you, which creates a more personal experience than other cruise lines. Each dining room has a different theme — on the Disney Wish for example, you rotate through 1923, Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, and Worlds of Marvel.
Are Disney cruises only for kids?
No — Disney Cruise Line has excellent adult-only spaces including adult-only pools, adult-only lounges, the Cove Café, Senses Spa, and specialty restaurants Palo Steakhouse and Remy (on qualifying ships). Many adults without kids cruise Disney for the theming, service, entertainment and private islands.
When should I book a Disney cruise?
Book as early as possible. Disney opens bookings about 18 months in advance and prices generally only go up as sail date approaches. Castaway Cay concierge cabanas, Palo/Remy specialty dining reservations, and port excursions also fill up fast. Pixie Vacations can book your Disney cruise and monitor any discounts Disney releases after you book.
