Mouse Chat Disney Radio –

Running the Disney 1 Mile Fun Run with Sarah Kate

This is a very inspiring podcast.  Yes, Sarah Kate is an ordinary 12 year old girl but her drive and determination is what is so inspiring.  When you listen to this Mouse Chat podcast you might not even realize that Sarah Kate has cerebral palsy, she does not let that hold her back in anyway.  She recently ran the Disney World 1 mile fun run during the Princess Marathon.

Not only did she complete the 1 mile, but then after a surgery she ran the Wine and Dine 1 Mile in the same year.  Andi, Sarah’s Mom, also loves to run and has completed so many Disney Marathons I lost track.  She has some great advice on which Disney Marathons to start out with if you are new to the Disney World Marathon scene and also which Disney Park is the most fun to run through.

I know many people that listen to us have question about the Disney Marathons.  Now Disney has everything from toddler races all the way up to Marathons.  Not ready to run a Disney Marathon?  Then start with a 1 Mile Disney Fun Run, or the Disney 5K and then work your way up to a Disney half marathon.  Andi and Sarah Kate both agree that Disney is the place to be when it comes to participating in these runs.  The Disney cast members, the special extras like characters and rides, before and after race events, all make for a perfect trip to Walt Disney World.

If you want to know more about running at Walt Disney World and also about running at Disney World as a special needs parent, please visit Andi’s blog, Bringing The Sunshine, where she shares her life as an ordinary mom living an extraordinary life with a daughter with cerebral palsy, a son with Down syndrome, an adventurous husband, a once-wild Westie, a rescued Schnoodle, a camera, and a worn out pair of running shoes.

If you are a special needs parent and looking to participate in any of the Disney Run events please listen to this weeks Mouse Chat podcast and let us know about your experience at a Run Disney event.  Everyone please post your Disney Marathon questions and experiences here in the comments.  We would love to hear more about Run Disney and these Disney Marathons and why you enjoy these Run Disney events.
