Don’t miss these Disney World rides at night
Walt Disney World really comes alive at night, and hey, it’s cooler and the lines are shorter.
On this weeks Mouse Chat we cover the best rides, strolls, and attractions to ride at night. Some of these are because of the nighttime vistas you get from these rides and other are for firework viewing while enjoying the thrill of a ride also. Some attractions just have a totally different feel at Walt Disney World when you ride them at night.

I love listening to you guys while I am at work. I have a Disney vacation planned for December, and you guys have provided me with so much great information. You guys are the best and always manage to make me laugh! Thanks for all you do!
I’m such a freak for the parks at night! I will pretty much only do Magic Kingdom at night, and I am going to keep it that way. I have sat through wishes going through splash mountain TWICE–haha! NO one was in line!!! Thunder Mountain is also fantastic. What a fun episode!!!
Hi Mouse Chat gang!
I have to agree that my favorite park after dark is Magic Kingdom but it’s a tie between Thunder Mountain Railroad(shorter wait) and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (better views).
Steve, I’ll agree with you about the People Mover too. If I have small kids, the People Mover keeps them entertained and gives them a rest before we hit Buzz Lightyear one last time!
Epcot is beautiful at night (and in the early hours, if you RunDisney!). I love being there at night but none of the rides beat MK.
Fantasmic at HS is a really fun night show, too.
Thanks Cheryl,
All great Disney ride choices!
Steve
Hello all. Love your Podcast, especially Sharpie’s puns! I would have to agree with Chris Wood, that the best nighttime ride is Dumbo. My daughter and I make it a point to ride together any night we are in Magic Kingdom. She is 14 now, but we’ve been doing it for years. Love the lights and atmosphere. When you are up high th view is perfect. If you time it right you can even watch part of Wishes from the ride. Great show, thanks for always making me laugh.
I know even Sharpies puns are growing on me.
Steve
I’m shocked no one included Astro Orbiter as a night time top pick! While I love all the other suggestions, this one is by far my favorite at night, especially during the fireworks. You are close enough to the action that you feel a little vibration from the explosions! I love the views you get of the whole park up there under the lights, and the fireworks just adds to the magic. I have never experienced a long line for Astro Orbiter at night…or maybe I’m just lucky!
Hi Cindy,
I love that ride but last time two of us got in it it took us a good two minutes to figure out how to get ourselves unwedged to get out. 🙂
Steve
One night,we decided to ride Splash Mountain at night. We timed it right, the parade was starting, no line. We made it to the bottom of the hill before the big drop. The ride stopped and they announced that someone jump out of the log and they had to search the whole ride before starting. The lights came on and cast members searching around. About 45 minutes we could hear the fireworks going off. After another hour it started. We got off and the park was closed. We had exit behind the Main Street shops to the right. They already started power washing the street.
Needless to say we slept in the next day.
Been listening since the beginning and laugh each and every week!! Haven’t been to the parks in May 2012 and really want to go back. Hoping by the time I get to go again I will be well versed on Disney!!!! Loved the segment on night time rides and I have always wanted to see the “backside of water”! Oh Sharpie! I enjoy the puns and of course all the melding of your personalities! Keep up the great work and can’t wait to see a new podcast in my feed.
Mr. Morrow. Mr. Tom Morrow. Your party from Saturn has arrived, please give them a ring. Love the TTA and especially love it at night!
A spinner such as Dumbo is a nice idea for nighttime riding, but I think you get a better view from Astro Orbiters than you do Dumbo. On our last trip, we ended up on Tomorrowland Speedway during the fireworks and that was very cool. Splash and Big Thunder are also great choices. All of the parks are magical at night and this was a great discussion topic.
